The Pathways for Engaging Men and Boys in Gender Justice project (funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada) strives to create a Canada where men and boys are actively engaged in the promotion of gender equality and violence prevention. They are bringing together practitioners and emerging leaders through an online community for the sharing of practical knowledge, tips and tricks, and vital supports in collectively building a movement. You can express your interest in joining through the Pathways website. If you have strategies for engaging in this work, we encourage you to share through this platform, too!

Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI) is offering a NEW online, self-directed professional development training program for Settlement Service Providers: Serving Youth in Newcomer Communities. 💻📚
This newly developed course will be launched for the first time this year, from October 1st to November 10th, 2022. The registration deadline is September 25th, 2022.
Upon completion of the training, learners will be able to:
- Learn to unpack their biases and engage in self-reflective practice.
- Develop interpersonal and professional skills and knowledge to support diverse communities of newcomer youth.
- Critically analyze the various systems that newcomer youth come into contact with, that may cause or perpetuate barriers and/or trauma.
- Strategize interventions that respond to barriers and empower youth.
- Develop programming that centres youth and responds directly to community-identified needs.
This course is open to settlement workers and service providers who are working in or with the immigrant and refugee-serving sector across the province who are willing to:
- Commit to approximately 2-4 hours of learning per week.
- Engage in Serving Youth in Newcomer Communities 101 Group at http://www.SettleNet.org, a new national online Community of Practice for the Settlement Sector.
- Complete assignments within the given timeframe.
Please note this is a 5 Module online training program. At the successful completion of the entire e-course, you will receive a certification of completion from OCASI.

September is Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Awareness Month.
FASD Ontario provides up-to-date information on FASD, including services and supports, resources, and training opportunities across the province.
They have also launched a FREE online Service Provider Training — for providers across all sectors — that offers strategies to support individuals and families, including the latest research and evidence-based interventions taught by leading experts, including those with lived experience. Learners who complete the course content will receive a certificate of completion. Learn more on their website.

Application for Black Focused Employment Social Enterprise Idea Accelerator Program!
The Toronto Enterprise Fund is holding a Black-Focused Accelerator Program that provides support for the development of a business or business idea that will be led by, employ and serve Black people in Peel, Toronto, and/or York Region. It is a two-month-long program that consists of online workshops and training courses related to entrepreneurship and other related topics.
Graduates of the Accelerator Program are able to apply for a Catalyzing Grant of $5,000-$10,000.

Mindfulness-Based Wellbeing for Black Women is a 5-week virtual mindfulness program for young Black women in their 20s, facilitated by Planned Parenthood Toronto, Elizabeth Fry Toronto, and The Centre for Mindfulness Studies. Brighter Days: An Indigenous Wellness Program by Kids Help Phone was developed by Indigenous experts to empower First Nations, Inuit and Métis youth with skills, tools and resources to support their well-being. The program is offered to any group of Indigenous youth from eight to 29 years old in both audio and video format.

Laidlaw Foundation is granting up to $30,000 to Indigenous youth-led groups that are based in remote and urban territories spanning Ontario. Through the Indigenous Youth & Community Futures Fund (IYCFF), the Foundation invests in opportunities for Indigenous youth to connect with their land, languages and cultures, and strengthen and deepen their relationships within and across Indigenous communities.
Application Deadline: May 20, 2021.

Due to COVID-19, Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre (BBNC) is offering a Youth Support Circle (virtual program) every Monday from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The Youth Support Circle’s purpose is to provide a safe virtual space for youth to check-in as the pandemic is a stressful situation.
